The beautiful is as useful as the useful. More so perhaps...

No Call No Show

Fortunately, I still have my job.

Hello Friends,

I took August off from traveling to shows. Instead, I painted! Overall it was a quiet month in the studio working on a handful of pieces. I'll share the big one here:

"Life Manifest" is an attempt to create the embodiment of a giving spirit and a contributor to others. This is often someone who works very hard, thus, the figure walks at dawn over a rough road burdened with the gifts she will give. In addition, the aqueduct speaks of receiving power and sustenance and stability from a steady source. The work and initiative involved in an aqueduct's construction hints of the planning and long-term thinking that the person who wants to add value possesses. The constellation Virgo peers hazily above whose association lies deeply in produce, fertility, and life.

As I type this, we are driving home from Indianapolis (I'm not driving, I think). We tried a one day show called Penrod. It was a fine show and I received best of show out of 350 artists. It was set on the grounds of the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and it was quite lovely. The art booth was nestled next to the Lilly House and gardens; a fitting environment for my work. I intend on returning, if they'll have me.

I contemplated wearing the "sash."

All Wichitans!

Next up: Autumn and Art! This coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday (16th, 17th and 18th). This show is held at Bradley Fair in Wichita. It's a great show put on by Wichita Festivals.

Seize this great opportunity to see my new work, visit with me, and see other great artists. I'd love to see you there! If you're a morning news watcher, you might see somebody you know Friday morning on KAKE (wink wink).

Skin Tone Workshop

I'll be offering a painting workshop on skin tones on Saturday October 8 from 12-5pm at Hue Gallery. We are going to work from a very limited palette--only 5 colors! (And two of them are white and black). I will provide all the materials, except brushes and palette, and it's only $60! There are limited spots available so please sign up here!

IV is one

We celebrated his first year with chocolate cupcakes and marshmallow creme. Get at it son. I hope you are never famous because this photo is on the internet now and the internet is forever.

God bless, Farewell friends,
Ernest Vincent Wood III
Louisville! I'll be traveling to the St James Court Art Show Sept. 30 - Oct. 2. I'll have my old spot on Belgravia Ct amid the gas lamps. I hope to see you there.
