The beautiful is as useful as the useful. More so perhaps...

It's been a stretch being a (responsible) father for half of the day and painting for the remainder. If it was only painting I suppose that'd be all right, but as the sole proprietor of this company* there are many hats. It seems as though there is never time enough. That being said, I am grateful to have this time with Ernest IV as he develops. All we ever have is the present passing moment. Each is to be lived, sometimes enjoyed, and sometimes endured. Here's the little bouncer.

Ernest is doing well. (I'm aware he's the only reason you read this newsletter) He's growing, and eating solid foods now. I really enjoy spooning various pureed vegetables into his eager mouth (and sometimes missing or blown back in my face with a force unimaginable by such tiny lungs). I will miss this moment I can already tell. How? I cry if I think about a time in the future when I look back on this time with nostalgia.

Add a child, add a trailer

I sit here writing this at NTB getting new tires put on the Odyssey (odyclub member, odyclub for life) because this is going to be the biggest travel year yet! I've been preparing the van to haul a trailer because (enter yet another adventure) we are taking Ernest IV on the road with us. A fool's errand? Perhaps. What's it like setting up an artist booth and hanging artwork with a 6 month old? I have no idea. I'll let you know. Here's the new beauty (Those effects...)

If you have 5 minutes you want to waste. Here's the journey I took to get it.... I was just pulling out of Oberlin when this photo was shot.

Painting Workshops

I offered two painting workshop weekends. It was a good time and I am grateful to Hue Gallery for their support in holding them. Keep a look out, we are doing more in the future. It was a great time. I continue to learn how to teach what has become so ingrained in my daily process. It's hard to cast a method for others to follow. Nevertheless the students did very well.
God bless, Farewell friends,
Ernest Vincent Wood III

*not a company, a dangerous venture! Like trying to tame a griffon to haul a cart. Who thought this was a good idea?
"John the Baptist in the Wilderness" was accepted into the 25th Annual National Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oils. It will be on exhibit May 13 - June 15, 2016 in Dallas, TX.
